FAQ's on licenses

What is a licence?
A licence is the permission granted to a third party for the use of a trade mark, patent, design or copyright work by the owner. A licence may be exclusive so that only one third party may use the subject of the licence. With a licence, rights remain with the owner. It is not obligatory to produce a written licence, but it is recommended. Licences can be recorded on the appropriate Register.
